New Massachusetts Mandates for Face Coverings, Gatherings, and Business Hours
November 2, 2020
Over the past week, daily COVID-19 have been quickly increasing as Massachusetts slowly reopened businesses. This has seen a 300% increase in cases since Labor Day. Given this situation, Governor Charlie Baker has issued new orders and limits on face coverings, gatherings, and hours of operation for businesses.
A state-wide mandate enforcing face coverings was signed by Baker today, and anyone over the age of 5 will be required to wear a face mask. Second, starting Friday November 6, a stay at home advisory will be in order from 10 PM – 5 AM with exceptions for going to work or grocery shopping. Private indoor gatherings will be limited to 10 people, and outdoor gatherings to 25 people. Third, all gyms, liquor stores, casinos, theaters, restaurants, and public venues must close by 9:30 PM.
Baker said “The simple truth is this: Too many of us have become complacent in our daily lives. We’re doing much better than many other states and many other countries, but here, too, we’ve let down our guard and we have work to do.”
