For the sixth year in a row, EarlyBird Power has arranged and sold carbon emission offsets for Teton Gravity Research’s filming operations. A ski film company, TGR’s carbon emissions mainly come from air travel, helicopter and snowmobile use. Carbon offsets are sold in order to promote clean energy practices where it is feasible, while enabling carbon emissions where clean energy is not yet possible. For TGR, there is no carbon free alternative for air travel, helicopter and snowmobile use, so they purchase carbon offsets instead.
To purchase the offsets, Teton Gravity Research partnered with Protect Our Winters, an environmental organization for the winter sports community that works to reduce carbon emissions and educate the community about the effects of climate change. EarlyBird Power sold the carbon offsets and gives back by donating a percentage of the company’s proceeds to Protect Our Winters.
